Dust n' Hooves - Original Tintype

$575.00

This unique piece is an 8x10 tintype, a historic photographic process, crafted on brown aluminum, adding a distinctive vintage charm. Renowned artist Joe Milazzo has skillfully drawn the original pen and ink image and I captured that image turning it into an authentic tintype. In other words, it is an authentic tintype taken of an original pen & ink drawing!

The focal point of the piece is a herd of majestic horses guided by an iconic cowboy/rancher of the American West. As they dash across the frame, a cloud of dust billows behind them, lending a sense of dynamic motion to the scene.

Milazzo's intricate pen strokes breathe life into each horse, capturing their individual grace and energy. The contrast between the dark ink and the warm tones of the brown aluminum creates a striking visual effect, enhancing the overall depth and intensity of the image.

Framed in rustic barnwood, the artwork is not only a testament to the artist's talent but also a homage to the timelessness of the cowboy way . It evokes a sense of nostalgia, transporting the viewer to a bygone era where the wild spirit of the untamed frontier still roamed freely.

I loved capturing this image on tintype and it is quite unique because most tintypes have a black background/base and this one is brown. I think it lends to the “dusty” ranch feel.

*This is an original 8x10” tintype mounted in a 11x13” wood frame that is ready to hang.  The glass from the frame has been left out so that the original tintype can be enjoyed and the sheen of the varnish visible.
