"Communion"

This is a replica from an original Wet Plate Collodion Tintype that I created. The series is called “Gospel Tin” and represents all things that are spiritually intentional and/or represent the life of Christ and stories from the Bible. There were many hours involved in creating this piece of artwork and I actually cried when it came up in the fixer!

I set up the scene, prepare an 8x10 plate with collodion, sensitize it in a silver nitrate bath, then use my 10x10” large format camera to capture it. I go into the darkroom to develop and then fix the image. It is a glorious and tedious process.

This is a striking image of communion. His body has been broken for YOU and His blood has been shed for YOU. Jesus came for every person on this planet and I felt it poignant to include the flag of Israel to remember His chosen people in prayer.

This is one of my favorite pieces that I have ever made and I pray that it will bless you and cause your mind and heart to point to God every time you look at it.
